Alphabet soup

This is such a small point that I hesitate to use the bandwidth, but
I think I should just get it off my chest and shut up.

It is entirely common for institutions, especially universities, to
be referred to by initials. It is also common for members of those
institutions to use those initials to refer to the institution when
posting on law-lib. It would be helpful (at least to me) if, when
posting a message, writers would keep in mind that those initials may
not be commonly known outside the local community. Furthermore, even
some prominent insitutions share their initials with others (ever
counted how many U.I.'s there are?) and thus may not be
distinguishable.

A minor point, to be sure, but I tend to be interested in where the
writer is from or what insititution they are referring to, and I
would appreciate it if people would spell it out in their messages or
sig files.

I'll sit down now.
