If you haven't already, you might try taking a look at the Legal Journals Index.
The editors of this Index state in the introduction that it covers "all
journals published in the United Kingdom, devoted to law or
frequently contain articles on legal topics and contain original
material (abstracting and newsletter services are excluded)". Perhaps
that would be comprehensive enough for the professor.
Alternatively, your idea of creating your own list using the on-line
version of Ulrich's is a really good one. I've used that database
a lot for just these kinds of questions. It may be hard to construct
a "perfect search", but you can get pretty close.
There are lots of fields to work with, and I'm pretty sure that you can
narrow by topic (law) and country (U.K.) You can also exclude fields
using the % connector.
It may be tricky limiting your search results precisely to academic
journals only (i.e. using terms like school, university or college) ; if you
haven't already, you might "brainstorm" with a West reference
attorney. A good database searcher at West can be very helpful to you in
formulating your search. They sometimes are more familiar with some
of the less frequently used connectors and they may also be aware of
other fields which are invisible to the end user.
