Law-Libbers,
I sent a response directly to Joyce Manna Janto specifically
addressing Virginia CLE but it dawned on me that a notice
to the list might be useful.
Carol Billings asked Margie Price of the West Virginia State
Law Library and myself to act as a clearing agents in
an attempt to get the conference pre-certified for CLE
in as many states as possible. A letter went out to a
contact person in each state requesting information on
CLE's. We received a number of replies and we sent in
applications for precertification wherever possible. We did
not have authority to pay any certification fees so if a fee
was required, we were unable to apply. We were also
unable to apply where the contact person did not reply
to Carol's letter. We have already received precertification
in several states. [Ohio, Kentucky, Minnesota, West Virginia,
& Wyoming are those I know for sure]. Wisconsin has
asked for more information (the letter arrived in today's mail).
We have a number of states still considering our
applications. In addition, for those states where we could
not apply for pre-certification, we made an effort to get
copies of the individual filing forms so that they could be
filled out in Pittsburgh where all the information is at hand.
All the CLE informnation will be available at the Hospitality Desk.
For those of you who need CLE, please stop at the
Hospitality Desk to check on your state. We will also be
taking a survey to see if this is the type of project
which should be continued. There will be a notice printed
daily in the Pittsburgh Point directly persons needing CLE's
to check at Hospitality but word of mouth advertising
would be appreciated.
