As of Friday, June 30, seventy-one resumes have been submitted to
the chair of the AALL Placement Committee. Thirty-four positions have
been posted as follows:

Public Services: 20
Technical Services: 8
Administrative (director, assist. director): 3.
Don't despair if you missed the June 30 deadline for mailing your resume
or job posting. You can still send your materials to the Placement

or job posting to the Placement Office at the Annual Meeting.
Instructions for registration are provided on page 27 of the Annual
Meeting program materials and are partially reproduced below.
Placement services will be available at the Annual Meeting from 10:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m., Sunday through Wednesday, in the Vista Hotel. Placement
services will not be available on Monday from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., due
to the President's Luncheon. Longer hours will be available for the
interview rooms. The Placement Office will have information on file about
positions and about persons seeking positions. The Placement Office also
posts job listings on bulletin boards, provides a resume drop-off service,
and provides space for interviews. If you have any questions about the
Placement Office service, please call Gregory Ivy, Placement Committee
Chair, at 214/768-1829.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES
If you wish to have information about yourself available to employers at
the Meeting, please complete the candidate's form on page 27 of the Annual
Meeting program materials and send the form and seven copies of a current
resume to the Placement Chair. You may register at the Meeting if you
wish; however, employers usually start coming to the Placement Office very
early Sunday morning so it will be to your advantage to send your resume
in advance. Note: The Placement Office and interview rooms will be
located in the Vista Hotel, NOT the Lawrence Convention Center. The Vista
is immediately across the street from the convention center.
Please feel free to attach a note to each copy of your resume if you
would prefer a position in a particular geographic area.
If you are attending the Annual Meeting, please stop by the Placement
Office as soon as possible to give the Office information on how you can
be reached during the week. Please also remember to bring multiple
copies of your resume. Many employers use a resume drop-off system which
allows candidates to leave resumes in Placement Office files if they are
interested in particular jobs.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR EMPLOYERS
If you wish to list a position in the Placement Office, please complete
the position registration form on page 27 of the Annual Meeting program
materials and return it to the Placement Chair. Positions advertised
through headquarters are not automatically posted; you must register with
the Placement Committee Chair. Due to limited space on the Placement
Office bulletin boards, full-page position announcements cannot be posted.
Only the position registration form or another announcement of the same
size (5x8) will be posted. Longer announcements will be kept on file in
the Placement Office and provided for candidate inspection. Please
provide seven copies of any such announcements.
You may also bring position announcements with you to the Annual Meeting.
Placement Office volunteers will post the announcements as soon as
possible, but to ensure maximum exposure of your position to candidates,
please register in advance. Announcements received at the Meeting will
be edited as necessary to meet the posting size requirement. If you plan
to interview at the Annual Meeting, please stop by the Placement Office
early to provide information on how you can be reached. If you are not
interviewing at the Annual Meeting, please be sure your announcement
includes instructions on how to apply.
