For law firm librarians, there is a "must read" article on p. 16 of this week's issue (July 20, 2009) of National Law Journal. It is entitled "Marketing and Research Professionals, Unite!" and it is aimed at lawyers who need information on how to go about networking for business development purposes. Libraries or library professionals are mentioned in 4 of the first 5 paragraphs and in the prominent quote! The article is written by a marketing director so the fact that it is written by a non-librarian adds credence to it with its recommendation to turn to the library staff. The article is also available on its website but you must be a registered NLJ subscriber or sign up for the 30-day free trial.

IMHO with this article as an entree, this is a prime opportunity for law firm librarians to come knocking on attorneys' doors to offer their services. This is especially true after they come back from the AALL annual meeting rejuvenated and with fresh ideas for marketing their law firm after seeing new products/resources in the Exhibit Hall.
