    Colleagues:

Please correct me if I'm mistaken, but it appears that the circulation and document delivery functions of the Michigan State Law Library may be discontinued, under Michigan Executive Order 2009-36 sec. II(B)(8)(b), http://bit.ly/6MFro . This order provides for, among other things, the abolition of the Michigan Department of History, Arts, and Libraries, and of the position of Michigan State Librarian, and for the transfer of departments of the Michigan State Library to other Michigan state government departments. This was reported in Library Journal of July 14, 2009, http://rurl.org/1okq ; thanks to Emily Carr at Law Library of Congress for notifying us. Can anyone confirm that the Michigan State Law Library's circulation and document delivery services are to be discontinued, and any other service or personnel consequences of the executive order respecting the state law library?

Our thoughts and good wishes go out to our colleagues at the Michigan State Law Library and the Michigan State Library.

    Rob Richards
