    The Tarlton Law Library at the University of Texas invites applications for the position of reference librarian.
    Tarlton supports the scholarship and teaching activities of a faculty whose interests range across disciplines and whose research often involves non-traditional resources. The reference librarian will be part of the Library's public services staff and will participate in a variety of Library functions, ranging from faculty research support and reference to instruction and collection development.
    Purpose: Works as a part of a reference and research support team that interacts with the law school and university communities, as well as the general public. Works closely with faculty, as well as other members of the Law School community, in support of scholarly and curricular needs.
    Essential Functions:

     * Provide research and reference services to School of Law faculty through the library liaison program.
     * Provide reference service to students and staff of the School of Law, as well as to the University community at large and to members of the Bar and to the general public.
     * Participate in teaching basic and advanced legal research.
     * Contribute to instructional and teaching programs in the law school. Assist in the development of instruction and outreach programs that educate students and the public in legal research strategies and sources.
     * Participate in library orientation programs and conduct tours.
    Marginal/Incidental functions: Other related functions as assigned.
    Required qualifications: Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-approved law school and graduate degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program. Applicants should be service oriented and interested in innovation and in contributing to an active department that serves diverse communities in many different ways. Applicants must possess very strong oral and written communication skills, and should have experience working in a professional team-based environment.
    Preferred qualifications: Teaching experience and one to three years professional experience in an academic law library.
