Hi everyone,
Do you want to catch up on the latest policy news related to government
information? The AALL Government Relations Office is pleased to announce
the publication of its April 2009 Washington E-Bulletin
<http://www.aallnet.org/aallwash/ebulletin0409.pdf> to give you a
comprehensive look at this month's top policy news, updates from AALL
chapters, and recent publications.
The April edition of the Washington E-Bulletin
<http://www.aallnet.org/aallwash/ebulletin0409.pdf> is filled with
summaries of the key policy issues we've recently covered. For example,
in April AALL sent a letter to the National Archives and Records
Administration asking them to maintain public access to Presidential
documents; we joined interest groups, other library associations and
trade associations on a letter to President Obama to urge him to balance
his intellectual property (IP) policy positions; and we welcomed
President Obama's announcement of the country's first Chief Technology
Office, Aneesh Chopra.
In addition to all of this news, the Government Relations Office and
Government Relations Committee published the agenda
<http://www.aallnet.org/aallwash/TrainingAgenda2009.pdf> for AALL's
2009 Day on the Hill Advocacy Training
<http://www.aallnet.org/aallwash/dayonthehill2009.pdf> (sign up by June
15!) and posted a comprehensive list of the Policy Track Programs
<http://www.aallnet.org/aallwash/policyprograms2009.pdf> for the AALL
Annual Meeting. We're also grateful to the Colorado Association of Law
Libraries (CoALL) and the Law Librarian Society of Washington, D.C.
(LLSDC) for submitting news about their chapter advocacy efforts this
month. Congratulations to LLSDC for officially starting their own
chapter Government Relations Committee!
I hope you enjoy reading all of the news in this month's E-Bulletin. For
your convenience, the Table of Contents is pasted below.
