I am trying to update my ABA book and after numerous emails and phone
calls to West employees, who have not been as communicative as I would
like, I thought I'd ask lawlib about West's People Map and People
Finder. I am trying to understand the difference between the two.
1. I know that the People Map provides graphical info and People Finder
does not, but what else is different?
2. Why do you use one and not the other?
3. Is People Map more expensive that People Finder?
4. How do you think People Map and People Finder compare to Accurint?
5. Does anyone just use the regular West public records database and not
People Map or People Finder? If yes, why?
6. I'm unclear as to whether one has to have a subscription to all of
Westlaw to use People Map, People Finder, or West's public records
database?
7. If you can subscribe to just one (or more) segments of Westlaw, does
anyone have a subscription ONLY to West's public records database,
or ONLY to West's People Map or ONLY to West's People Finder?
8. Does anyone use any of the above databases on an ad hoc basis(via a
credit card)?
9. Do you have to be pre-approved to use these databases as you do for
Accurint?
10. Does anyone use something other than Accurint, Merlin, or West for
public record searching?
