Greetings:
I'm looking for advice on searching for old, out-of or never-in, "print"
recordings by Moe Levine. I'm working with the editor of a publisher
(www.trialguides.com <http://www.trialguides.com> ) that is bringing
some of Moe Levine's works back into print.
I'm been away from academia for a while and am a bit (!) rusty with the
research tools for these non-print sources. I do have access to OCLC
databases (through our public libraries and worldcat dot org, of
course), but not RLIN. I have access to some other resources, e.g. the
JSTORs, and a few other databases one can find in public libraries and
that may have articles that cite to recordings other researchers have
found. The publisher has also been in touch with the Levine family.
The editor will be contacting some of the librarians I've referred her
to, but I told her that, with her permission, I'd ask those more
knowledgeable than I am for additional advice, so here I am :-)
Any librarian-sleuthing hints? People to contact? Places to visit?
Things to do? Archivists to email?
The editor says, "[we] are now looking for any and all Moe Levine sound
recordings-probably on cassette, reel-to-reel tape, or who knows what
media. There may be some films-we have a couple of VHS tapes that likely
started out as movies. Many of his books were based on lectures at
colleges and trial advocacy seminars, and later transcribed. ... have
some but are wondering if there is more... his old law firm in Mineola,
NY is still in existence, and the lawyer who inherited Levine's office
after his death actually wrote a foreword in the book for us."
Their book, "Moe Levine on Advocacy" will be out in June, this year.
Thank you! (And please feel free to pass this along if you know someone
who knows someone who knows ...)
