A correction to my previous post for the *really* right answer, in case
anyone searches the archives in the future.
The USDA's ERS data turned out to be the actual price paid to farmers,
which was much lower than the commodity futures trading prices.
There is a 2008 graph here, which lists the Open, High, Low and Close.

Also this: http://indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=corn&months=60
<http://indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=corn&months=60> which had
some monthly averages. But of course that would not give you the actual
high & low, and even an average taken by cumulating/averaging these
averages might not be the TRUE average cost (though it seems like it
might be pretty darned close).
My thanks to the wonderful librarians at the James J. Hill Reference
Library for the answer.

Subject: FOUND: corn commodity prices in 2008
I got a couple of suggestions.
The lead that turned out the best was to use the USDA's Economic
Research Service site.

Subject: [LAW-LIB:58697] corn commodity prices in 2008
I am looking for the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) corn prices for 2008.
The specific figures I need are the low price per bushel, the high price
and the average.
I contacted the CME Group and was told they could not simply provide me
with the information. I would have to purchase the full data set for
Jan 1- Dec 31, 2008 end-of-day prices for corn ($210).

Does anyone know of another source for finding this information? I am
willing to pay, just hoping to pay less. Or free.
Thanks for your advice,
Bonnie
