    Leslie,

When you don't participate in name calling, you don't need anonymity,
because you have no fear. I doubt Dina ever had any fear that Ron's
threats would impact her professionally. Because she did nothing
    wrong, Ron's threats are hollow.

What people really fear are threats and harassment from those cloaked
in anonymity. To those there is no defense. You have no way to
    respond professionally.

Listmates, anonymity doesn't protect "Leslie" it gives him/her the
freedom to attack without fear of retribution.

That reason alone should be reason enough to ban anonymity on this
listserv - a listserv for legal professionals not cowards hiding their
    real name and professional associations.

Ron risks his reputation with his sometimes rude posts. He also has a
    reputation for providing excellent information.

You, through you anonymity have only created a reputation of a troll.

Let's address this head on by prohibiting anonymity on this
    professional list.

The modern state appeals to morality, to religion, and to natural law as the ideological foundation of its existence. At the same time it is prepared to infringe any or all of these in the interest of self- preservation. J.M. Coetzee, "Diary of a Bad Year."
