Dear Law-Lib community:
I believe that he should be kept on the list. Over the years, Ron
Huttner has made many substantive contributions to this list. He has
also made contributions individually to a large number of our
colleagues. I cannot say the same about the anonymous "Leslie Germain"
because he or she refuses to share his or her identity.
I believe that the list should require members to provide their real
identity, and should ban anonymous postings unless done through the
moderator. Leslie Germaine has figured out exactly how to push Ron's
buttons, and is having a real good time doing so. That is extremely
unprofessional behavior and should not be tolerated on this list.
This reminds me of a situation I witnessed as a public defender. A man
began taunting another man in the courthouse outside the public defender
office. He used all kinds of derogatory and racist language for about
five minutes while we were trying to track down the courthouse security.
Finally, the person being taunted finally had enough. He punched the
taunter just as the courthouse deputy came up. Of course, who was
arrested? The wrong person. It was only because the public defenders had
witnessed the whole thing that the situation was rectified.
