I second David's vote. Judy should just ignore the requests to remove
Huttner, and we should all ignore his provocotive posts if they fail to
amuse. The reasons for people wanting Huttner removed never change, so
no need to pay attention to them when they periodically blossom.
Leslie Germaine is just as obnoxious as Ron, doesn't have as much humor
to contribute and while she has requested help many times from this
list, has not as far as I can tell reciprocated with help for others,
certainly not as much as Huttner has.
For the creditbility of the list, I would love it if Ron learned to
moderate himself, but short of a lobotomy, that probably won't happen.
Do as I do when you see one of those snarky postings - say "here he goes
again ..." and delete it along with the other spam.

Subject: [LAW-LIB:58048] RE: Inconsiderate and disrespectful list
participants
I have been a member of law-lib for a long time, well over ten years
under a few different email addies. Throughout that time, and
especially before he retired, Mr. Huttner was both very helpful and
occasionally rude, but his professional help far out weighed his
occasional rudeness.
I think it would be unjust to ban Mr. Huttner because of his response to
the person who posts as Leslie Germaine, who as best I can tell has not
contributed much professional help, unless it has occurred offlist,
which could very well be the case.
I am generally opposed to banning people for occasional rudeness, since
whenever flame wars erupt it easy to avoid the discussion by deleting
the messages. But if action were to be taken, it should be against both
participants, not just one.

Subject: [LAW-LIB:58035] Inconsiderate and disrespectful list
participants
Dear Law-Libbers: I am exhausted and frankly disgusted dealing with
unprofessional postings on the law-lib list. It consumes my time to
respond to numerous emails from subscribers who want Mr. Huttner
removed: subscribers are saying it has gone on long enough, that his
postings are disruptive, offensive and beneath the dignity of this list,
etc etc, etc. I agree. If anyone has a professional reason why Mr.
Huttner should not be removed from the list, please let the list
subscribers know now. And do not send your email to me send them to the
list so that others can judge if they are valid reasons. I have tried
to be fair and patient, and maybe I'm just short on patience today, but
help me out here colleagues, because if I do as you ask and remove Mr.
Huttner, I do not want to hear about it later. Thanks, Judy
