Hola to all, and apologies to academic law library directors, who earlier got a missive similar to this.
Many of you know that I retired from U. Ark. Little Rock in 2006. In July 2007 I took a one-year gig at UNLV to help them find a permanent law library director. And then I took another one-year gig here at LSU, for the same reason. The new director (Dragomir Cosanici) started yesterday and today is my last day. I GRADUATE today from a life of working!!!
And for friends who might not have heard, Heidi my bride of nearly ten years, and I are going to go full time RV traveling. We bought a 37 foot Carriage Carri Lite (5 slides) and an F450 Ford pickup, dual wheels, four doors, and a diesel. We will start our vagabond days in a few weeks. Our RV (which we have named Fort Beaird, or, The Fort) is quite large and very comfortable, with of course air conditioning, a washer/dryer, large-screen TV, and, are you ready for this, a fireplace.
Heidi had rotator cuff surgery last week which will delay our departure from Baton Rouge for a few weeks, for her therapy (the surgery went well, as will the therapy). Then we'll go to the Austin area to dispose of things in storage there.
And then, perhaps in late April or early May we'll head up through Arkansas and Kentucky to western NY, stopping as long as we want, and leaving when we want. Then we'll go to New England, then stop for a visit in Virginia, Tennessee, and get back to my hometown of Lufkin Texas in time for my 50th high school reunion in October. Tentatively in late 2009, early 2010, and spending the whole year to do it, we'll head through the Southwest, including Las Vegas, up to Oregon and Washington, and eventually over to Montana and work our way back down to Texas in the fall.
I have a blog started for out travels, but it's not ready for prime time just yet. When we hit the road in April or May I'll get it going. If you want to be able to see it, drop me an email to this UALR address and I'll give it to you then.
And as an emeritus professor this email is mine for life. If you can't remember it you can always go to the UALR law school site, click on faculty, click on emeritus faculty and there I'll be.
Best to all,
Mike
