Roseann, you took the words right out of my mouth. I do not condone
censorship and I am happy to read any pertinent, professional knowledge
that Sylvia and/or Leslie can offer this list. But the cruel, childlike,
anonymous emails are simply uncalled for. Mr. Huttner has offered loads
of valuable information to this list in the past. I cannot say as much
for Sylvia/Leslie. The AALL does have a code of ethics that we could all
stand to read every once in a while. Although Sylvia, you are evidently
not a member. But, regardless of membership, or affiliation, or
geographical location there should also be a self-imposed code of ethics
that we as professionals follow. A code that discourages abusive,
off-list emails. Sylvia, I am happy to speak to you about this in person
if you would please call me. As you can see, my contact information is
below. Perhaps in your next post you would be so kind as to include
yours. And certainly if you plan to attack Ronald Huttner, or anyone else
in the future, at least have the decency to allow his/their responses to
get through to you.
Most sincerely,
Meredith

Dear All-
I've been a member on this list five years, through its many high points
and several low points- and I do agree that the current email harassment
of Ron H, or ANY member, warrants some action by the list-owner.
I would not want MY contributions, suggestions, intelligence nor my
country repeatedly insulted or trash-talked by anyone, let alone an
anonymous e-tyrant with a false sense of entitlement to verbally abuse
other members at will. There is no justifications for behaving like a
school-yard bully.
I do not think this Sylvia person should be allowed the privilege of
further membership in Law-Lib. I think, like pornography, we all know
what e-verbal abuse looks like when we see it, and this is a clear case.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, lets end this nonsense and act like the
professionals we are supposed to be. We ARE in the business of service
and conflict resolution, aren't we?
My opinion only.
