    Dear Mary Lou,

I don't want to extend this discussion any more than necessary, but I wanted to quickly respond. I believe the designation of "fun" was directed towards the difficulty the asker was having finding the answer, NOT to the nature of the question.

That is the type of question I find "fun" to research - what the rules are in regards to this particular set of circumstances occurring. I do not, however, find it "fun" to mull over the potential death of anyone.

I think the issue was not with the question but the classification of this question as "fun". I found the subject line for this question a bit disconcerting, but I also thought Sylvia's response angry & immature.

    Brian,
Thank you for sticking up for my and my legitimate question. While I did get one answer that said the question is somewhat unsettled, I had more time to look into it last night. I believe I found the answer by "Googling" the question. The rules of both parties provide for the event of a vacancy on the party's ticket -- Rule 9 for the Republicans and Section 2 (7) of the Democratic Party By-laws. And the question was raised by a faculty member who likes to start his class with an unusual "trivia" question. I was trying to get a quick answer before his class started and was posting from my Blackberry while walking to my bus stop. I thought for sure a law librarian would be able to come up with the answer. Good question if anyone is planning a trivia contest as a fall library promotion.

    Dear Sylvia,

I believe your sarcasm here is unwarranted and over the top. I have no reason to assume that Mary was not passing along an honest question she has tried to answer. If you look at the posting it was originally posted on the LLSDC listserv - LLSDC = the Law Librarian's Society of Washington, DC - the largest and one of the oldest chapters in AALL.

Your response was childish, repugnant, and decidedly NOT an approach I would expect form a librarian.

    Sincerely,

    Brian

Ha, ha ha!!! That's a real knee-slapper Mary!!

I'm down with your sense of humor, so here's another hilarious "Early Friday fun question:" Suppose that a bunch of infantile Moonbats select an individual as their chosen Messiah, but their Messiah is a moron, and so doesn't get elected? Is there a system in place to keep the Moonbats from wetting themselves while holding their breath until their faces turn blue?
