    Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks a Part-Time Law Librarian to
    work two (2) full days per week at a law firm located in Irvine, CA.
    Under direction of the library manager, the law librarian manages all
    the firm's libraries including at the main office and four satellite
    locations. This position offers a flexible, part-time schedule.

     

    Duties and responsibilities:

    * Supervise and monitor the activities of three library assistants
    who generally visit the office library locations once a month;
    * Prepare assignment lists for each library assistant and follow
    up with a progress report;
    * Visit the Los Angeles office library location once every other
    month or as needed to handle all loose leaf filing and organize the
    library;
    * Do all loose leaf filing, replace books, organize library and
    update and maintain the library inventory;
    * Receive all library mail. Verify items received and forward all
    invoices to library manager for approval.
    * Log all items received from all locations including updates,
    supplements, new editions, new books and costs on library inventory;
    * Handle all book orders from all offices to include returns and
    cancellations. Work with vendors to negotiate and settle billing
    issues;
    * Distribute items to other locations as needed;
    * Assist in answering reference questions;
    * Keep library maintained and in good order.

     

    Qualifications:

    * Previous experience working in a law firm library environment
    required;
    * MLS degree preferred, but not required;
    * Experience in legal research;
    * Previous experience working with loose-leaf filing in a law firm
    environment;
    * Detail-oriented and strong organizational and communication
    skills;
    * Strong customer service orientation;
    * Capable of working efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced
    environment;
    * A motivated individual with demonstrated ability to work
    independently and perform other duties and responsibilities in a branch
    office environment;
    * Proficient in electronic applications including Lexis, Westlaw,
    Excel and Word;
