Reference Librarian - Washington, DC Law Firm
We are currently recruiting for a Reference Librarian. In this role,
the qualified candidate will provide reference and research assistance
for firm attorneys, support staff and clients in a timely and cost
effective manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides research and reference services, using the firm's collection
and/or the collections of other libraries.
- Monitors newsletters and other resources for information of relevance
and interest to attorneys.
- Responsible for inter-library loan activities and responding to ILL
requests from outside the firm.
- Assists with library training and tours.
- Provides manual and computerized research and reference services,
including doing research at other libraries when necessary.
- Assists with the collection development to the extent of review of
catalogs and brochures, inspection of mail to determine if service is
still a necessary part of the library collection.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Must have a MLS degree from an A.L.A accredited program.
- Experience: Must have a minimum of four years reference experience in
a law or business library.
- Must have proficiency searching DIALOG, Lexis, Westlaw, D&B, LivEdgar,
Courtlink, PACER, OCLC and other similar resources used in law and
business libraries.
- Must have the ability to work well under pressure.
- Must have patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent
interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and
adapt to changing conditions.
- Must have the ability to receive and convey detailed information.
