    Greetings (and forgive the cross-posting):

I've tried a number of local gov documents/law contacts without success
and wondered if any of you have a contact at the CIA Library who might
be able to help me locate:

"Legal and legislative cases arising out of guerilla activities in the
Philippines," [by] Claire Phillips Clavier, (OCLC # 11777181)

See below for specifics on my search and the request.

    Thank you!

    Laura

Subject: ISO book/documents available only (?) at CIA Library re Claire
    Phillips Clavier

    Greetings:

For a library patron, I'm in search of: "Legal and legislative cases
arising out of guerilla activities in the Philippines," [by] Claire
    Phillips Clavier, (OCLC # 11777181)

I'm trying to track down this "book" or a table of contents from this
"book." FirstSearch shows the only copy at the CIA, but before trying
there, I thought I'd ask around the statewide documents community first
in case this question has been asked of you all before now. (We don't
have RLIN, which may have additional holdings.)

My guess is that some, if not all, of the documents in this "book" are
from her 1957 Court of Claims case (I have that opinion, but not the
briefs or record), but there may be other documents in this "book" not
available elsewhere. And some of the "legislative cases" referred to in
the title may be findable in a depository library. This "book" may
also be related to the Memory Hole, CIA Case Logs: 5-Sep-03
    F-2003-01622, "CLAVIER, CLAIRE PHILLIPS"

Court of Claims case: MRS. CLAIRE PHILLIPS CLAVIER v. THE UNITED
    STATES, Cong. No. 2-52, United States Court of Claims, 139 Ct. Cl. 98;
    1957 U.S. Ct. Cl. LEXIS 90; 153 F. Supp. 451, July 12, 1957

The patron has a large file of clippings, documents, and books, already,
but if you run across any I'd be glad to put him in touch with you to
find out if you have any new ones. What he is missing is this "book"
and any living person connected with Claire Phillips, other than living
    authors of previous books.

There is nothing covert about this research. The patron is a local
(Oregon) filmmaker and is researching a possible new documentary about
this fascinating woman. (He does know about, "I Was an American Spy"
(1951).) When I asked him if there was any reason not to post high and
low publicly for information, he had no hesitation: whatever helps him
find as much information as possible is fine with him.

Books and Movies about Claire Phillips:

Code name High Pockets : true story of Claire Phillips, an American Mata
Hari, and the WWII resistance movement in the Philippines, by Edna
    Bautista Binkowski

    Excerpt from: TCM dot com
    <http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=78905&category=Notes> : Notes
for I Was an American Spy (1951): 'An opening credit title reads: "We
acknowledge with appreciation the cooperation of the Department of
Defense and the United States Army on the production of this picture."
The film begins with an onscreen introduction by U.S. Army Commanding
General Mark W. Clark who states: "You are about to witness a motion
picture story of a woman who performed a magnificent service to her
country under hazardous wartime conditions. In time of crisis, she
recognized a call to duty and reacted as we hope all Americans will if
confronted with similar circumstances. As an underground agent and
civilian patriot she acquitted herself with great courage and made an
important contribution to the war effort. Her actions were exemplary and
reassuring-to preserve world freedom will require sacrifices and
devotion to our cause on the part of every citizen. As we face the task
that lies ahead, we May all derive great inspiration for the story of
the deeds of this fine American woman...."

    Thanks!

    Laura
