    Hi Sara,

    Back in the old days before Matthew Bender was acquired by LexisNexis, MB used to sponsor several AALL travel and education grants each year. On the Monday evening of the annual meeting, MB would host an awards dinner at some nice location, typically a museum or a good restaurant, for that year's award winners. Past winners were also invited to the dinner, so it has long been an annual event that MB-funded grant winners, or "Bender Babies," looked forward to. Since LexisNexis acquired Matthew Bender they have continued the tradition, although the LexisNexis reps persist in getting the name wrong and calling the old-timers "Baby Benders." I suppose eventually it will come to be known simply as the LexisNexis dinner, but librarians have long memories.
