Below are the results of the responses to my question about the best research guides for content and/or appearance:

“I'm a huge fan of Georgetown Law School's Research Guides. They're well-written and thorough. I'll often consult one when I'm looking for resources in an area of law that's new to me.

“University of Washington Law Library for comprehensiveness.

and the Library of Congress (though not a school)

“one of my favorites is http://www.washlaw.edu/ from Washburn University School of Law. Like the look and format and have found it to be a really handy reference for international law sites.”

“I've always liked GWU's research guides for content. Appearance is fine too I guess. Content is excellent.

Thanks to all who responded to my query.
