When speed is a concern, Courthouse News Service was recommended as most
likely to catch day-of-filing news. Bloomberg is fast, too.
Basically, for most of the services, like CourtLink or Courtexpress,
you're at the mercy of the court clerks as to how quickly they update
the docket sheets and even then, most of the services are likely to pick
up the new case filings once a day, after the court day is over by
polling the courts' electronic systems.
Other suggestions include: a) twice a day manual search of the US
Party/Case Index on PACER. b) If you have a particular court in mind,
you could call the clerk. Some will search; others won't. c) Also for
a specific court, you can manually search their e-court filings or d)
set up a Google Alert - you never know.
I really appreciate the help, especially the information that getting
same-day filing information is problematic and why that is so.

Subject: [LAW-LIB:55974] Patent Litigation Alerts
We are monitoring federal district courts nationwide for a patent
related lawsuit we expect to be filed against company XYZ. (Although we
think it is most likely to be filed in a district court in New Jersey.)
The attorney needs this information the day of the filing, so I am just
wondering (since the attorney is VERY clear it must be available the day
of the filing), with so many possible ways to get new case alerts, what
people recommend as the fastest.
