Good morning, how do you feel about vendors asking you for personal
information for access to public records at the workplace? Within the
last month, I have had a couple of verification forms that asked me to
attach a copy of my driver's license. One also asked for my home
contact information and social security number. It strikes me as overly
intrusive and I have been reluctant to provide them. What is reasonable
information for us to provide to maintain access to sensitive
information? What is reasonable for vendors to request? Is this just
an issue for law firms, or have other types of libraries (court or
academic) been asked for the same kinds of information?
Perhaps I should create my own form for them to verify the authorized
use of my information!
Thanks, Laurie
