One of our professors is trying to determine who holds the copyright/publishing rights to Chester Antieau's Religion Under the State Constitutions, an out of print title published by Central Book Co., a Brooklyn, NY publisher, in 1965. Central Book seemed to specialize in legal publishing (especially New York practice materials) from the early 1900's to somewhere around 1974. After that, they must have gone under, been bought out, or relocated to the Roanoke Island colony.
After a lot of WEXIS, state records, news/periodical, and publishing literature/directory searches, we've been able to determine that some rights to assorted titles Central published have changed hands and now reside with Hein and West. Unfortunately, none of those titles was the one we were concerned with, so the hunt continues. If anyone has ideas either about Central Book Co.'s fate, or what rocks to look under next, I'd appreciate any assistance Thanks..
