REFERENCE AND TECHNOLOGY LIBRARIAN

The Rutgers University Library for the Center for Law and Justice, in
Newark, N.J., is seeking a Reference and Technology Librarian. The
Library for the Center for Law and Justice is a research library with a
collection of over 500,000 volumes and volume-equivalents, and a staff of
nineteen, including eight librarians with faculty status.
Responsibilities: The Reference and Technology Librarian participates in
reference desk duty (including evening and weekend work) and the faculty
liaison program, and has responsibility for the administration and
enhancement of the library's integrated system and associated
technologies. The position reports to the Director with respect to
reference and liaison duties, and to the Head of Technical and Automated
Services with respect to technology duties.
The Reference and Technology Librarian oversees and optimizes the use of
all modules of the Innovative system, prepares procedure and training
materials, and provides training; investigates, recommends, and implements
emerging technologies to operate with the Innovative system; and performs
other duties as needed.
Conditions of employment: This is a full-time, calendar-year,
tenure-track position. Initial appointment is for one year at the rank of
Librarian III (equivalent to Assistant Professor); reappointment and
tenure decisions are based on librarianship, scholarship, and service.

Qualifications: Must have: an M.L.S. or equivalent from an ALA
accredited program; working knowledge of U.S. legal publications;
excellent written and oral communication skills. The successful
candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. Preferred will be
candidates with: J.D.; experience in law libraries; experience with
integrated library systems, especially the Innovative Interfaces system;
and a record of scholarly achievement and involvement in professional
associations.
