Our attorneys love "You're Going to Be Deposed" from Commonwealth Films. We have three copies!
Just sent back the Knowles one - I liked it, but the attorneys still preferred the "You're Going to be Deposed.

Subject: [LAW-LIB:54876] Deposition video materials - compilation of responses
Thanks so much for all the replies! In response to my inquiry regarding Knowles' deposition video as compared to the elder Matthew Bender video ($420), I received varying opinions which are provided below. Knowles has a 30-day review policy, so I will be ordering it ($295) - and may be returning it. We will also be looking at the NITA product (on special now for $177) which was suggested.
Thanks again!

We've purchased it because that old one had "walked". However, what is interesting is no one has really used it yet. Here we have it in this nice DVD format and everything-------. Anyway, it was the most recommended when I asked the same question a while ago.
We purchased it this year, and we already have the Bender one. I had several attorneys review it, and all but one liked it better than the Bender video. However, most of my attorneys when they ask for a deposition prep video ask for the Bender video - guess I'll have to publicize, again, that we have both. I've not watched the Knowles video, so personally have no opinion - I think my guys liked it because the actors weren't dressed in 70's/80's attire :)
I don't have the Knowles but when I looked at it a while ago while at another firm where we felt it was not geared to the business executives we usually dealt with in our patent litigation practice. Every year for several years now I lobby Bender executives for an updated Bender deposition tape ( they have it on DVD now! ) and I ask for dubbed versions in Hebrew, Russian, Urdu, Hindi, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, Swedish and as many other languages as I can think of. Bender does not go out of their way to let you now that Japanese and Spanish versions exist, but they do; I have copies.
We purchased that one (Knowles) years ago and no one likes it.
At my former firm we had both and the litigation team loved them. Those things were constantly checked out from the library!
We have had both of these at one time or another. The Knowles version the attorneys did not like; too simplistic I believe. Have you thought of purchasing " Preparing the Lay Witness for Deposition" from NITA? We just purchased the DVD version (1 DVD and 1 booklet)for about$190 and the attorneys love it. This purchase replaces the video version of the same. Just FYI
