Thanks to those who provided comments on my Lexology question. Here is
a general summary of the responses.
The consensus is that Lexology is a good and useful resource. They have
a large volume of articles covering a variety of topics and have nicely
organized email alerts. Because they cover so many areas of law, it
works best if a person only receives their daily emails on a limited
number of legal topics. People receiving ALL the topics will probably
become overwhelmed and lose interest.
Librarians who subscribe to Lexology compared it to DocuTicker or
Mondaq. It's a good source for finding "articles of interest" to
forward on to the attorneys.
Feel free to allow the attorneys to subscribe to it themselves,
especially since it is free. Those attorneys who are motivated to be
"on top" of events/practice issues will like it.
One academic law librarian mentioned using Lexology with students to
help them find topics for papers.
The only sort-of negative comment I received was that some of the items
are repetitious on a hot topic. For instance, when Congress amended the
FLMA to cover military personnel care, there were many items on the same
topic over several weeks.
Regarding the submission of articles, one person said it is excellent
firm advertising. Another said they are not contributing articles, but
Lexology may just be reusing their memos like the Law360 newsletters do.
Based on these comments, I've got no problem giving my attorney the
green light to subscribe to Lexology.
I will share this email with my Marketing department and let them decide
if it is a good venue for article submissions for that attorney's
practice area.
Thanks again,

Subject: [LAW-LIB:54825] Lexology: what do we think?
Hello wise ones,
I am wondering if anyone has experience with Lexology (
http://www.lexology.com )? It is a UK outfit, and it's free to register
to receive their daily emails.
One of our attorneys did a 5-day trial and wants to know if we should
subscribe to it. Or should we try to get articles published on it?
Are other people subscribing to this? Do you see it as a valuable
resource? Is it a worthwhile source for attorneys to submit articles
to?
Thanks for your input!
