A couple of people asked that I summarize for the list.
The best answer is that there is no real substitute.
The online version, while easily navigable, is more expensive than the print.
Some input follows:
--CCH has some softbound taxbooks that are not too expensive. Some of the sets from RIA are good, though I do not know who is publishing them now. Warren, Gorham & Lamont are good, but I do not know who is publishing them now.
--We now subscribe to the RIA Choicepoint which we access online only since we too weren't using them enough to justify the cost. In the occasion we need them we either borrow one locally or use them through Westlaw. The price for Choicepoint depends on which components of the service you need.
--The TM service is also on Lexis and Westlaw. (but not part of our package!)
We haven't made a decision yet, though I know we won't go with the online version. We may drop it entirely.
Thanks for the input and advice.

I have been asked to try to find an alternative to the BNA Tax Management Portfolio, possibly something with online access.
It seems as if we do not use this item enough to justify the price.
Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.
