I don't think Merlin is less accurate or less current than the other vendors. In fact, I think it is more current. I was informed by Merlin that they use live credit headers while others use one month old credit headers. I will say this about Merlin-it is clunkier to use than the databases we are used to, but once you get used to it, it's not too bad! I use Merlin and find it works well for me. I know other law librarians who use it and love it. Also, it is less expensive than the other products.

It appears most ppl use Accurint and there is a new flat rate service called Merlin which may be cheaper but also less current and/or accurate. We were hoping for something with a bit more transparency - its hard to pin down where the Accurint report info comes from and how old it is. They claim the source of their data is proprietary information. Thank you all for your responses. Sarah S. Bennett Manager of Library Services
