    All,

Following up on the service projects in New Orleans, the SISs are considering sponsoring service projects in Portland.
Two projects are currently under consideration:

    1. Food Repacking -Oregon Food Bank & Learning Gardens http://www.oregonfoodbank.org/make_a_difference/volunteer/
Volunteers sort, inspect and pack fresh food donated by local grocery stores; help repackage frozen food donations into family-sized portions; repack bulk food, sort canned food, label packages and complete mailing projects. Can handle up to 85 volunteers for food repack.

    2. Portland Parks & Recreation Community Gardens http://www.portlandonline.com/parks/index.cfm?c=38304
Invasive species removal (weeding)in natural parkland; general park and playground maintenance. 100 volunteers

If you are interested, please let me know just so I can get a feel for the amount of interest. Lunch/refreshments will likely be on your own.

    Thanks.
