Dear Law Lib:
At AALL this Summer, I recall West hawking selected reporters on DVD.
At the time, I inquired about them, but the sales people had few
details, except that it was "excellent", and that if I bought them, I
really would "own" the product.
They made a point of saying that it was not a Premise product and would
not have the pesky license keys.
Here is my question to anyone who has the dvd's:
Do you like them?
What is the interface?
is it a West proprietary product?
can another search interface be used?
What is the nature of the data on the disks?
is it encrypted? in some binary format?
In other words, is the system such that if West decided to pull support
for the disks and interface software, would you "own" a useless disk,
despite the lack of a license key?
Any other information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
John
Of course, I will summarize responses for the list if requested.
