I am supposed to find out which state require lenders to have a license
for commercial loans ( not mortgages & not banks or other regulated
institutions). Many states have licensed lender laws to protect the
consumer, some have laws regulating commercial loans. Vermont Banking
Dept. insists there are many, my attorney insists there are few. I have
looked in Westlaw's 50 state surveys and tried many different searches
in all state statutes. I get 400 hits or 14. The attorney (
transactional practice) is convinced it should be a simple search.
Does anyone know of any source for this information?
Do you know if your state has such a law?
Anything to short cut a 50 state survey. Please!
TIA
