I've had several requests to post the replies I got to my question.
The answer is basically that there isn't a good source and I don't have
much to offer beyond what I already suggested, news coverage and SEC
Form 20-F. One international law expert said that this is a frequently
asked question for which she hadn't found a good answer.
A collegue she recommended to me said he is not aware of any service
that has court docket information for more than one country, the way
CourtExpress or CourtLink cover the U.S. The information about lawsuit
filings varies from country to cournty. For England and Wales, for
example, there is CourtServe. So, I guess if we had been interested in
a specific country, we could have checked to see what is available
there. Someone recommended going to Google for specific countries.
He didn't think any other countries require public disclosure of
litigation in financial filings, as U.S. companies report in forms 10-K
and 10-Q and foreign companies report to the SEC in form 20-F.

Subject: [LAW-LIB:54465] Tracking Lawsuits worldwide against company?
Attorney wants to know if Foreign Company XYZ is a party to a lawsuit
anywhere in the world. We have the U.S. covered.
Is there a source for finding out if this foreign company is involved in
lawsuits in any other countries? (I have located news articles and some
information in the SEC filing Annual Reports of Foreign Private Issuers
-- Form 20-F.) I just want to make sure I haven't overlooked a source.
