I've noticed that in least a couple of instances, an ABA title has not
been immediately available via Amazon; it's possible that ABA
"embargoes" their availability via Amazon so that ABA is the exclusive
outlet for the title for a period of time. I can't say that this is a
matter of course, but certainly with a couple of titles in the past
year, I've found that while they were in stock at ABA, they were "not
yet released" at Amazon (the recent title on global climate change was
one that I know for sure was among them).

    Discontinued

    Janice, et al,

For those of you concerned about the loss of the ABA's 20% discount, I
suggest using amazon.com The vast majority of ABA monographs are
available there, most at hefty discounts, which range from 35-55%. The
"Used and new" option produces many new or virtually new copies. I have
excerpted 10 of the more than 20 ABA titles I plan to add in my 2008
Legal Information Buyer's Guide & Reference Manual. The entries below
show the new cost from ABA, the ABA member or Section discount, the
amazon.com cost, and the percentage discount by acquiring the title on
    amazon.com.

I try to add the amazon.com cost to the cost line of most of my
    treatise/monograph entries.

Moreover, amazon.com places strict guidelines on shipping costs, which
will never produces the nightmares Laura Orr describes.

Knowing this, you can then isolate the issue of whether you use enough
of the ABA package plan periodicals to warrant the plan's continuation.

Our library received the form letter yesterday, I think.

            Such a deal!

The gist is that if you want to continue getting the 20%
discount you need to join the ABA Package Plan. For $819.00 you receive
ALL the ABA serial publications and you get Special Promos as well as
invoicing after the title is shipped. Anything you order is discounted
20%. Alternatively you order using the attorney's ID number. There's
more but I found it depressing.
