I've started looking into these for a personal reason-my daughter, a
math major, wants to become a freelance indexer.

For a list of dedicated indexing software, see
    http://www.asindexing.org/site/software.shtml

I haven't yet obtained any information regarding their quality, but saw
elsewhere a note that CINDEX has 51% market share. It is used for some
specialized functions by another unit within my agency, and the law
indexers are pleased with its performance. I too hope others may
provide information on this. There are also classes in how-to-index
offered by ASI, the American Society of Indexers, and by U.C. Berkeley.

Does anyone have any experience using indexing software? If so, I would
appreciate any recommendations for certain products. I know Word will
index a document but appears that it would be very tedious to do so.

    Many thanks and happy Friday!
