Hi,
I have some questions for the academic law librarians regarding database
subscriptions.
1) Would it be possible to share how much your database subscription
costs are increasing each year? I don't mean in exact figures but as a
percentage increase. I'm particularly interested to find out about the
Westlaw and Lexis subscriptions.
2) Are your subscription costs based on usage or FTE?
3) Do you get any discounts if your university has a law school or are
you charged a higher rate?
The reason why I'm asking is that some of the database vendors here have
increased their rates dramatically.
They range from 26% - 78% rate increases. We do not seem to be
experiencing the same problem with the non-law databases so I was
wondering if this was something peculiar to law.
Many thanks.
Kind regards
Charlotte Gill
