Dear Tatiana,
One of the women on my library team is a native of Moscow. I will ask
her if it's okay to give you her contact information.
IMHO, while our country is diverse, our profession is not, and many in
the profession are working to change that. However, I also believe that
unfair discriminatory practices continue to exist, and are not always
illegal per se even though they are obviously unfair. Discrimination,
unfortunately, can emerge from most any direction and for most any
illogical reason. You are wise to survey the landscape before making
important decisions.
Feel free to contact me as well, especially if you're interested in
working in the New England area. I'm a member of the local AALL
chapter.
Good luck with whatever you choose!

If you apply yourself diligently to your studies and perform reasonably
well, you will not require a quota or other non-merit-based program to
be successful.
Good luck with your career!

Hi everybody,
I'm a library student who aspires to be a law librarian. After
working in several law firms as a library assistant and learning about
diversity programs, I wonder if these diversity programs would apply to
any other minorities besides the "officially designated" ones. My native
language is Russian, and I would like to connect to other
Russian-speaking law librarians who work in the U.S. law firms to find
out how they entered the profession and whether they had any specific
difficulties because of their background. I would appreciate and welcome
all your responses.
Thanks!
Best regards,
Tatiana
