Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks qualified candidates for the
position of Law Librarian at an international and well respected law
firm in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervise all technical services processing, such as the library
catalog project;
2. Instruct and trains attorneys and paralegals about patent, legal and
business research using traditional print sources and on-line;
3. Provide information to the Office Administrator for budget planning
and authorizes invoices for payment;
4. Oversee the on-line database training program;
5. Present formal classes on patent, legal and business research;
6. Conduct complex patent, legal and business research as a timekeeper;
7. Promote library staff services through the use of articles, guides,
newsletters, etc.;
8. Work with Business Development to complete customized research
projects for attorneys in preparation of client meetings;
9. Oversee inter-library loans and outside document requests;
10. Maintain the library collection by removing superseded books and
materials that are duplicated or not used;
11. Work closely with attorneys to develop a library collection to
adequately support the law practices of the office and plans for
long-term library needs;
12. Participate in office automation program;
13. Represent the library at law department meetings as requested;
14. Network with other law librarians to share solutions to difficult
research and administrative problems.

Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in Library Science (MLS); and minimum three (3)
years professional law library experience;

2. Westlaw and Lexis on-line research programs;
3. Specialized patent searches;
4. Legal databases search techniques;
5. Basic principles of cataloging and legal bibliography.
