LAC seeks a Legal Reference Librarian for a law firm located in Los
Angeles, CA. The librarian is responsible for performing manual and
online research requested by attorneys and other staff. The ideal
candidate is one who is imaginative, resourceful and tenacious, given
that much of the research lies outside the field of legal research and
particularly in the areas of public records, general business and patent
research.
Responsibilities
* Perform reference and research duties utilizing traditional
print sources as well as the leading legal, public records, business and
patent online sources;
* Cite check pleadings and legal memos using Checkcite software.
Qualifications
* MLS from an accredited ALA institution or equivalent experience
required;
* 2-3 years of law library reference/research experience required,
preferably in a law firm;
* Proficiency with Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw;
* Familiarity with CourtExpress, Courtlink, PACER, LivEDGAR,
Checkcite, RLIN, Bender.com, Choicepoint, CCH Research Network, RIA
Checkpoint highly desirable;
* Familiarity with online patent research and retrieval services,
such as Delphion, Reedfax and Micropatent, desirable.
* Previous experience providing research in the areas of public
records, general business and patent research, desireable.
