This is an exciting opportunity to join the large staff in the
Information Resource Center of a global law firm. The Practice Support
Specialist interacts directly with the attorneys and other IRC members
each day to ensure that IRC is satisfying as well as staying ahead on
technological and information resource needs for the various practice
areas of the firm. This exciting position points toward the future
expanding role of the law firm information professional in the area of
information innovation and exploration of research technologies.
Core Responsibilities Include:
* Working knowledge of all research database applications and
ability to use various library related software and electronic
resources.
* Assist in the day to day management and organization of
electronic information resources on the firm Intranet.
* Support IRC research technologies provide demonstrations and
training sessions as needed and develop new ways to market new IRC
resources and research tool developments.
* Keep current on new products, trends and innovations in the
online research marketplace as well as enhancements or changes with our
existing online resources.
* Participate in regular product trials and evaluations,
assessing the value of the potential purchases and comparing these
reviewed tools to resources already available to the firm.
This position requires a motivated individual who has an ability to work
effectively with attorneys, through the use of excellent communication,
marketing and presentation skills. A strong service orientation, the
ability to work independently, set priorities, possession of a high
level of attention to detail and handling multiple ongoing tasks are all
other key traits we seek in the individual selected for this position.
The ideal candidate should have an understanding of knowledge management
principles and content integration. Basic understanding of general
technology and/or law firm applications is also recommended. Knowledge
of legal research resources preferred. The qualified applicant has a
demonstrated knowledge of webpage design with a working knowledge of
html, FrontPage or other webpage design tool software. MLS preferred
with 3 plus years experience as an information professional.
