Current Law Journal Content's search logic has been considerably
improved. Previously all search words were just ANDed together, but now
you can do AND, OR, NOT, root-expansion, and phrase searching. So a
search could look like:
(crime or criminal) not canad*
au(garner or smith) and ti(writ*) and jo("student lawyer") and ((good
or bad*) not poor*)
To search, go to http://lawlib.wlu.edu/CLJC/index.aspx and enter your
search, or you could append a search to a URL like:
http://lawlib.wlu.edu/CLJC/index.aspx?search=(crime+or+criminal)+not+canad*
Note that the connector priority is NOT, then AND, then OR, so a
search like, crime or criminal and hiv, can produce unexpected results
if you don't use parentheses. To clarify the search logic use a search
like, (crime or criminal) and hiv
Another newish feature is that after you run the search you will see,
just before the search results on the screen, an icon labeled "feed
version of search". Copying this link into a feed reader allows you to
have search results sent to your feed reader.
I'd be happy to get feedback if anyone finds any errors.
