Library Associates is looking for a Manager of Outreach Services for our
client, the LA Law Library. The LA Law Library is a large public law
library serving self-represented litigants. The Manager will supervise
and oversee the Document Delivery, Copy Center and Outreach Programs
services. In addition, the Manager participates in the development and
promotion of activities that reach our current and potential users
beyond the traditional Library activities such as marketing, training,
and member benefits.
Responsibility:
* Manage Document Delivery and Copy Center Services;
* Manage Outreach Services;
* Participate in achieving divisional and departmental goals;
* Coordinate activities with other Collection Management
Supervisors;
* Provide input for departmental and divisional policies and
procedures;
* Participate in staff meetings, group activities or committee
assignments;
* Participation in Library and Library related activities;
* Maintain professional memberships and represent the library in
local, state and national associations;
* Supervise staff and provide leadership;
* Conduct training for potential Library patrons and/or partners
in legal reference and research techniques.
Qualifications
* Graduate degree from a school or accredited ALA institution AND
4+ years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of
education and experience;
* 5+ years directly related experience managing a department
within a public/academic library institutions or law firm.
* In addition, 2+ years demonstrated experience supervising
professional Library staff.
* Must be familiar with business training and marketing concepts;
* Proficiency in library electronic technologies and appropriate
training techniques;
* Requires the ability to be proficient in presentation creation
and delivery skills;
* Requires mobility within the library - ability to climb stairs,
maneuver between library stacks to retrieve books;
* Must be able to lift, push and/or pull up to 25 lbs. on a
regular basis;
* Experience in marketing, branding, or advertising of library
programs, highly desirable.
