Position/Title: Reference Librarian, Legislative Services
(Uncovered position)
Location: 1700 W. Washington Street
Phoenix, AZ 85007
Starting Salary: $38,000 - $44,000 DOE

Job Description Summary: This librarian provides reference assistance
to library users, with specific attention to the selection and support
of legislative research needs.
Responsibilities include:
* Answers questions dealing with the library's collections, with
special emphasis on law materials. Also has knowledge of the other
collections, including, federal and state agency publications,
genealogy, maps, and electronic resources.
* Assists in oversight of requests received via e-mail and U.S.
mail, including prisoner letters.
* Familiarity or experience with legal resources preferred.
* Identifies and initiates review of library resources,
including databases, publications, and other library resources.
* Researches questions using all formats, especially using
electronic resources.
* Provides library tours; plans and presents workshops; and,
provides bibliographic instruction in the use of library materials.
* Provides direct service to legislative customers at the
Electronic Reference Service area, as needed
* Prepares monthly and special reports on activities.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:
* Advanced library degree (MLS)
* Libraries and library work, prefer some experience with legal
materials.
* Customer service work and attributes of excellent customer
service.
* Computer skills for research (searching and web page work).
* Advanced skills in MSOffice applications, with knowledge of
Windows and database applications, such as MS Access, desirable.
* State and federal government structure and processes.
