Members of the Law Library Faculty of the Joel A. Katz Law Library at the University of Tennessee will conduct informational meetings with potential candidates interested in this position at the SEAALL Annual Meeting in Baton Rouge, LA.

Reference Librarians

The Joel A. Katz Law Library at the University of Tennessee is seeking two Reference Librarians.

Under the general direction of the Head of Public Services, the first Reference Librarian will provide in-depth reference services, participate in the library's regular reference desk rotation, participate in developing and teaching the Legal Research curriculum, assist with the supervision and training of student reference workers, create legal bibliographic materials, participate in library orientation and liaison programs and in library planning and governance, and perform other duties that enhance the mission of the Law Library and the College of Law. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.

Under the general direction of the Head of Public Services, the second Reference Librarian will provide in-depth reference services, participate in the library's regular reference desk rotation, coordinate and participate in the Library Liaison Program, participate in training faculty research assistants, develop and maintain electronic updates/current awareness services for faculty, present legal research forums for faculty, develop new programs to enhance library services for law faculty, participate in library planning and governance, may participate in teaching Legal Research classes, and perform other duties that enhance the mission of the Law Library and the College of Law. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Both positions are 12-month, tenure track faculty appointments. Scholarly research, publication, and service to the library, College of Law, university, and profession are required for promotion and tenure.

Requirements
Both positions require a Master of Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school and a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law prior to starting. The successful candidates will demonstrate excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills; interest in professional and scholarly development, and a high level of self-motivation.

Preferred
Candidates with experience in teaching legal research, providing reference service in a law school setting, or published scholarship in the areas of legal research teaching or law reference are preferred.
