Catalog Librarian
The Valparaiso University School of Law Library is accepting
applications for the position of Catalog Librarian.
Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of the Law Library’s catalog
(shared with one other library on campus.) Includes creation of
original and copy cataloging for all formats including electronic;
management of outsourced and/or system provided authority work;
coordination of library system functions and training for the Law
Library; implementation and management of outsourcing of cataloging,
depending on library’s requirements; initiation and establishment of
new cataloging projects; organization of workflow and supervision of
one FTE support staff (Interlibrary Loan Manager/Assistant Cataloger)
and student aide. Work with other librarians on collection development.
Possibly participate in reference service at a later date. Catalog
Librarian reports to Associate Dean for Library Services (Law School).
Qualifications: Required: Master’s Degree from an ALA-accredited
library school. Preferred: Advanced cataloging class, internship,
and/or two years experience in cataloging or technical services, with
experience with OCLC, knowledge of MARC, AACR2R, LCSH, LC
classification; experience with ILS, preferably Innovative Millennium.
Law library experience an advantage. Ability to implement projects.
Good communication and interpersonal skills including ability to work
with other librarians in Law Library and campus Library System
Administrator.
Title and rank will depend on education and experience. Salary is
competitive and the position includes benefits.
