In addition to agreeing with Sarah Valentine about spice makes a list
nice, I would like to point out that librarians have been known to take
some very strong positions against censorship, including with the current
administration over issues like the USAPATRIOT Act.
Google Search Results
Web Results 1 - 10 of about 974,000 for librarians and censorship.
Now if we are going to tell lots of other folks that censorship is a bad
thing, it might be good to practice some toleration on library lists, a
trait that has repeatedly been opposed on library lists in my experience.
Our preaching elsewhere does not look good to people outside our
profession when we do not practice what we preach and use the delete key
rather than trying to make lists conform to limitations we oppose.
Also Ron Huttner has had a long and important role in contributing to law
and law library lists, some of which may be viewed from Google.

I personally have learned a great deal from this gentleman from Australia.
Let us be more tolerant of a variety of styles, views and approaches to
our library lists.
This post contains a link to a post I sent a long time ago regarding off
topic posting and both of these may be of interest in this regard,
although the post from Ron Huttner was not off topic, off topic posting is
one issue that can get strong reaction at times on library related lists.
