First, Welcome to law-librarianship Randy! ;-) -[ I'm assuming you are
new to librarianship in general - `what is your previous background?]
Censored??!!! - I think not Randy - , while you raise several very
good points concerning objectivity as an important element of good law
librarianship, I do have to speak out that censorship is the LAST
thing a librarian should be involved with. Open forum has always been
practiced on law-lib - I've been on this list for over 2 decades, &
while we *do remind subscribers to remain objective, professional and
congenial, I can't imagine law-librarians censoring. Mr. Huttner has
been on this list even longer than I & while he may give blustery
personal comments, he has also contributed worthwhile content. Even
his post below *does request a specific document. I think it would be
a drab list if no personal comments were ever injected into posts.
Personal comments show personalities/bits of ourselves...
`just my HO: I don't feel "abused" by anothers' personal opinion that
I may or may not agree with - rather, I'm glad they have one & shared
it within the context of their request. `Sometimes posters need to be
reminded to "take it off list" but it is infrequent.
