I give seminars all over the country and always show the attorneys in
attendance all of the databases that their local library makes available
remotely to them free--if they have a public library card. So, before
you spend any money at pay websites, be sure to visit your public
library (virtually) and see if they provide free remote access to any of
the databases various librarians have suggested in this discussion. For
example, I know that many pub libraries provide free remote access to
Mergent Online, Hoovers, Gale Business Directory...

I use Executive Affiliations online through Westlaw. There are also
biographical databases also (D&B, S&P). I also check the company's
website; many times they will have bios for officers and directors. If
they are publicly held, their SEC filings will also give the names and
the annual report may have bios.
Capital IQ by Standard & Poor's. Not cheap, but really good.
