Dear Colleagues,
Several Thomson West customers have asked whether the new New York Trial
Court Orders database (NY-TRIALORDERS) has affected our New York Cases
and New York Official Reports databases (NY-CS and NY-ORCS). To clarify,
NY-TRIALORDERS will offer state Supreme Court orders that previously
were not available on Westlaw. This new database contains orders on
intermediate and dispositive motions. NY-CS and NY-ORCS will continue
to house New York Appellate Division, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court
decisions as selected by the New York Reporter's office. The Official
Reports database will continue to contain trial court orders that the
Reporter's Office has deemed appropriate for inclusion.
We have included all Supreme Court decisions in the NY-TRIALORDERS
database to facilitate searching at the trial court level.
Additionally, users can easily search all available New York judicial
rulings with a single query by specifying NY-CS along with
NY-TRIALORDERS as part of a multibase query. If you don't know how to
run a multibase query, just call 1-800-REF-ATTY for a quick primer from
a West Reference Attorney. And, as always, we invite librarians to
contact either your West Librarian Relations Manager or West Reference
Attorneys with Westlaw research questions.
Thank you!
Lori
